This typical two-storey Beira house is built in granite. The lower floor, or store, was to stable livestock and the upper one was where the family lived. The veranda and balcony are also traditional in a Beira house.

The Bell Tower or Belfry is at the top of a hill in front of the main façade. It is an archaic construction accessed by steps, many of which are carved out of the rock. It has two openings with bells.

This is a 19th century rectangular residential civil architecture building. It was built in 1880 by order to the descendent of João Mendes Fajardo, who was appointed Captain of the town on 23 March 1801.

Near the castle is the synagogue, a modern building designed by architect Neves Dias. It was opened in 1996, 500 years after King Manuel I’s edict expelling the Jews from Portugal. The temple faces Jerusalem and displays the Menorah on the door and bars and the Star of David on the gates. Belmonte most likely had a synagogue in the 13th century. There are no traces of it but its existence is proven by a stone in the Jewish Museum.

Baroque-style fountain built in the 18th century in Largo da Bica. It has a rectangular back with two pilasters topped by a bevelled Latin cross and the cost of arms of King João V. It is accessed up a fine staircase decorated with flaming vases and modilions where horses were tethered.

Two irregular blocks of granite. Two skulls and two sets of tibiae are sculpted in relief on the upper stone and there is also a sign in the form of an arrow or phallus. The open rectangular hole must have been one of the supports for the gallows.
