House Number One
It presumably dates back to the 13th century, judging from the medieval slit and the fact that it belonged to the Ferreira Ferraz family, former city administrator of Sortelha. Although the building has no medieval features, it was possibly built in the 16th or 17th century. It has vernacular and classicist influences. The two storeys are different. An outside staircase is attached to the next-door house. It has straight lintels and only one window has a smooth frame. The building’s name comes from an inscription on a ground-floor door.
