Ducal Palace

Trancoso

Trancoso

It dates back to the 18th century and was been built in the second half by Jacinto Lopes da Costa Tavares, Governor Arms of Beira. It is wrongly called the ducal palace because it was actually inhabited by viscounts. The late baroque manor is one of the most impressive buildings in the old town, thanks to its size and remarkable details. It is L-shaped and has two storeys. Its main façade is divided into three parts by pilasters. The central part is topped by a curved pediment around the coat of arms of the Costa, Lopes e Tavares family.
